You learned that the first step in knowing your diving computer is reading the manual. That's important. But does the manual actually explain what the computer is doing for you? Do you have an appreciation why your dive computer is your best friend during a dive?
We don't mean your computer is your dive buddy ... nothing replaces a good dive buddy.
This course involves several topics of learning, from refreshing your knowledge of the recreational dive planner all the way to setting alarms and preferences on your computer.
Included with this course is a Genesis Centauri computer. Other computers may be substituted for an additional fee.

Learn your dive computer
OVERVIEW
Choosing your first dive computer may seem a daunting task. Features, displays, sizes ... and this just scratches the surface.
If you are considering your first dive computer purchase, want to make a change from your current computer, or are looking to add to your dive computer collection, we can guide you!
Included with this course is a Genesis Centauri computer: yours to keep and be your best friend while diving. This wrist-mounted computer allows you to experience unmatched dive capabilities. It is ideal for scuba diving, free diving, and nitrox enthusiasts. This device employs the Bühlmann ZH-L-16C algorithm to proficiently manage your dive parameters. Tailor every setting to suit your preferences, ensuring optimal performance, while its versatile and stylish design makes it suitable for everyday wear.
If you prefer to select a different computer and make it yours, we can do that for an additional fee. Call us to discuss those details.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
You’ll get refreshed on the recreational dive planner, learn what most computers provide to the diver and what more advanced computers are capable off, learn about the algorithms dive computers use, how to navigate the menus of your new computer, and how to use the features that are available to you.
High level topics:
- The Recreational Dive Planner (aka the dive tables) - without this fundamental knowledge, it's difficult to understand and appreciate what your computer is doing for you
- Dive computer basics: modes of operation, the common numbers (depth, time, NDL) and how to read them
- More "advanced" features: air integration, gas time remaining, enrich air
- Dive computer algorithms
- Displays and navigating menus
- Setting alarms, dive planning, access dive logs, smart-phone sync, and other additional features
