Revisit rescue skills!
  • Are you ready and able to put your rescue diver skills to use?!  Mock rescue scenarios will pop up unexpectedly during small-group dives.
  • Active participants must be rescue certified
  • Non rescue-certified divers may observe in the water or out
  • The goal is to have people refresh their rescue skills while having some fun doing them
We may mock up any of the following rescue scenarios:
  • Assisting the traditional tired and rational diver at the surface
  • Assisting a responsive diver in distress
  • Rescuing a panicked diver at the surface
  • Responding to an overexerted diver
  • Responding to a panicked diver making an uncontrolled ascent
  • Providing air to, and ascending with, a diver in an out-of-air emergency
  • Searching for a missing diver
  • Surfacing an unresponsive diver
  • Rescuing an unresponsive diver at the surface
The rules of participation:
  • Persons initiating the mock rescue scenarios will be clearly identified with shirts indicating "THIS IS A DRILL" or with clearly marked ribbons on their dive gear.
  • Participants who are not part of the mock rescue drill team may NOT initiate their own mock rescue scenarios.  This is not a free-for-all and we cannot have a genuine need for help confused with a drill.
  • The mock rescue drill "victims" will be in pre-determined locations throughout Crusty's Quarry.
  • Leaders of the small group dives will know where to be, where to go, so that the rescue drill "victims" can initiate the drills.
  • The mock rescue scenarios may happen before and during dives
  • From the participant's perspective, we hope the mock scenarios are unexpected
